Reblog+ Intro to my monthly music series

Music was never the thing which could be forced into the walls of its definitions. It is, in fact, so vast and omnipresent; laced with so many layers, so many emotions making it one of the few things in world which lends someone feelings so great, that he would be at a loss of words […]

Music: Part of the world or a world within?

I’ve never read such an amazing article about the wonders of music. When she said “And blessed are those people, I say, who do not just make throngs of people love their music but can make them feel it, down right to their bones. And blessed are we, because we possess the ability to feel music”, I couldn’t agree more. You’ll definitely have to check her blog out for more wonderful and relatable posts.

Hey everyone!!! People who know me very well always say ‘music is my greatest obsession’. I’m the type of girl who has her earphones plugged in all the time, listening to that one song until I get bored to move on to the next. There are many people who write reviews about books, products, movies, study courses and here I am, who loves to review songs. I finally made up my mind to start a monthly series- Turn the volume up. Here I’ll be reviewing my favorite songs but it’s more like a song recommendation. I’m not here to judge their music. It’s only about my personal likes and opinions so if you have similar music taste like me, come and join here for a fun discussion.

Since I listen to both western songs (English) and K-pop (Korean pop music), I have divided my post into two sections. I also have a great interest in listening to all other languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Telegu, Hindi, Arabic, French and Anime OST but I won’t be able to cover everything and not all my readers are familiar with it. I’ll be mainly discussing about K-pop songs since that’s what I’m more interested about. In this music club or series or whatever, your voices do matter so at the end of each post I will drop a poll to enter your opinions. Please fill it after listening to the music. You can discuss more about it in the comments below too.

This is an introduction post and the series will start properly from the next month i.e., June 1, 2021. To those who don’t have any slightest idea about K-pop, let me give you a short and quick summary about it in 3 points.

-> K-pop stands for Korean pop music, a international sensation topic for the teenagers all over the world without any language barrier.

-> Except for koreans, most international fans don’t know korean or even the lyrics but hey, music itself is a language (makes us feel something) and so we listen to them.

-> The next question arises is why listen to a language which we don’t even understand. Here is the main reason- unlike all English songs which centers mostly around love and sad breakups, K-pop music extends it’s concept about life’s little pleasure, depression, loneliness, comfort, moments, love, individuality, anxiety, disgust and many other emotions, offering all the bright and dark side of life. You can always expect a heavy dance performance, cool choreography, eye-catching music videos with breath taking voices. There is also a particular concept for their each album which involves specific theme or narration throughout it like WINGS, BTS- about growth of youngsters who find themselves conflicted in the face of temptation, IT’Z me, ITZY- confession of a young girl to the world about who she truly is and giving out the message ‘it’s okay to be different’. The dream chapter: magic by TXT – happiness and excitement of meeting or seeing something special and how imagination is limitless and can take you to any magical places.

Those are the basic things you need to know how it’s different from other language songs and why it’s acceptable all over the world, before jumping into a conclusion about it.

This is going to be the model or sample post for my upcoming series:

K-pop recommendation:

Song Name (with Youtube link) – Artist

About the concept

As I said, I’ll elaborate the concept behind the album or the message that they are trying to convey.

Opinion on the mv and choreography

About my honest thoughts and predictable theory. In rare cases, if there is no choreography then I’ll try to talk about behind the scenes too.

Photo edit:

This will be my special customized collage edit for the song. Personally, I think picture speaks more than words and this will give you the perfect representation of the song with just a single glance. I’ll try to capture all the minor and beautiful details in the MV and put it in the collage.

17. Billie Eilish
18. Alec Benjamin
19. Halsey
20. Zyan Malik

This table sums up my diverse taste in music. I usually don’t dig deep into the personalities of any artists than I do for music but unfortunately I became a hardcore fan of Selena Gomez and BTS which means I almost know everything about them too. I’m not a huge fan of rap songs but I still listen to some specific rappers like Mark Lee, Jackson Wang, Chang Kyun who doesn’t use curse words, weird noises or idolize women vulgarly in any of their songs unlike most others.

Yes, I’m an Indian girl who speaks Tamil, studied Hindi for a while, lived in Oman and now listening to a Chinese guy (Jackson Wang) who is in a Korean boy group, but sings in English. That’s what I call international. Music knows no language and so does our soul. Language has never been or never will be a barrier for any music fans as far as I’ve known.

PS: I’m very picky when it comes to music and I don’t like listening to songs with meaningless lyrics, loud noises or something stupid and thus won’t be reviewing it even if it’s from my most favorite singer.

Some relatable memes to make your day:

Someone: What do you want?

Me: I want a “I’ve made a playlist for you” kinda love.

So guys, what do you think about this post!? Are you in for the club? If you are a spotify user, catch me up here. Hope you’ll stay with me throughout the journey.

Tell me about your favorite bands or artists in the comments below no matter in which language they sing, I’ll love to check it out.

  1. Thank you for filling my form!
And there was one thing I wanted to say; you know the reason I write on such serious topics. Like mental health for example. I think that there are very less people talking about these strong topics. It’s much needed. My blog is all about philosophy and preaching 😂
But that’s not what I think about all time. I am not this boring. I love music baking etc etc ♥️

    1. You’re most welcome!!
I completely understand you. You are such an amazing girl!!
Ha ha I get it but sometimes I feel like you don’t speak a lot about the bright side of the life too. You know, we become what we write. Especially in this pandemic, I think writing more about the happy moments will make the writer feels good. Just my thoughts… 😊
That’s the reason why I asked you to write more about it.
Oh that’s cool!! I never knew you like baking. Share any of your secret recipe then 😉

  3. I’m really looking forward to this series! I don’t think I know anyone who likes music as much as you so I’m really looking forward to hearing your reccomendations and opinions. I also like to listen to music in different languages but they’re mostly different ones than yours. An artist I think you might like is Davina Michelle she has an incredible voice and is from the Netherlands (like me!). She sings in Dutch and English. I really like her song Skyward.

      1. I know right! BTS do connect people with their music, like this. It’s surreal. There are so many tracks of them which lend me this experience, though they are in different language ( I am Indian, too. We speak Marathi, here) and I can’t be thankful enough for them. I guess I have visited your blog before but somehow I must have forgot to follow back then. Anyways, it’s great to connect with you!

  9. And thr PS is very relatable. I am also just like that. The memes made my day 😂. The post was amazing. Music in itself is a language. And I love the two quotes with which u started. I will be reading that post.
